Oils from non-food crops can be used to produce everything from plastics to cosmetics, and offer a high grade, natural alternative to traditional mineral oils. One exciting opportunity is producing Short Rotation Coppice, for power stations and other energy end uses (e.g. Combined Heat & Power boiler at a local school). Non-food crops provide farmers with an important opportunity to diversify and for industry to contribute to the SFFS.
