Red Meat Industry Forum (RMIF)

The RMIF was established in 2001 with the aim of improving the competitiveness, profitability and sustainability of the British red meat industry.

The RMIF projects help any type of red meat business, from farm to fork, to find opportunities for greater efficiency. The programmes deliver substantial bottom line results helping businesses to re-invest in their own future. All programmes are confidential and are based on a 'learn-by-doing' approach so that everyone from producers to processors and retailers get involved in their own continuous business improvement.

Below is an example of the type of projects the RMIF have on offer. For more detailed information, please visit: www.redmeatindustryforum.org.uk

Activities:

·       On-Farm:
Business Improvement Clubs. Farmers from similar farm units get together to exchange best practice ideas. Club members meet regularly to benchmark their farm data (nationally and locally) to work out their production costs and to highlight opportunity areas.

·       Post-farm gate activity:
A range of business improvement, international competitiveness and industry development programmes are offered for post-farm gate red meat businesses, including whole chain initiatives.
